Helena Michie is a Professor of English at Rice University Houston, TX, specializing in the literature and culture of the Victorian period. She is also the Director of Rice’s Center for the study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality. Her COVID-19 household includes her husband, two adult sons, four dogs and two cats. She has written five books that take up topics from the representation of female bodies, to the history of the honeymoon, to cultural ideals of pregnancy and infertility. She has long been fascinated by the relation of people to their homes, and to the vexed history of home as an ideal.
